Cross EPG im NN 3.3 ?

    • Sure no problem...
Fisrt thing you need to do after downloading this plugin/patch is performing a restart.
Now you should already see,in the crossepg menu, that the config menu has changed.
The options for auto restart after download and so on, should be gone.
That means that crossepg acknowleges that there is a load patch present.
Now you can update your rytek and xepgdb providers as usual and download the needed data.
Just a hint,UK epg from xepgdb doesn't seem to work at the moment...Use rytek, till it is fixed.
With this plugin installed, a restart is now no longer necessary and the data gets merged with the regular epg just like before, when the e2 core wasn't closed.
Only downside, compared to the e2 (v2.1) patch, is that with this simple epg load patch(at least I think that is the reason) opentv and mhw2 epg download won't work, but besides that everyting is working perfectly.:)

    • Thanks a lot!
Well, the patch seems to be working wonderfully, it's all done on the fly, again, wow, lovable work 8)
In fact menus about restart ecc are gone, I noticed that!
It seems I still have to troubleshoot related green screen problems...but before bothering with the details, what version of CrossEpg are you using?
      Is the one here github.com/E2OpenPlugins/e2openplugin-CrossEPG/downloads ok? It's enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-crossepg - 0.6.2+git274+3e635ee-r0
    • Yes that one seems to be the latest version...I'm using the same one.
What kind of problems do you have?
Maybe you could post your crashlog and someone can help you figuring out what's wrong.
Oh and btw, xepgdb for UK seems to be working again,so no need to use the slow rytek option anymore.:)

Well, I thought it was my hdd having problems (in fact it had others, I'm checking it out right now on Ubuntu!), so I've gone trough a complete epg cache wipe and tried using the usb key:
      1. deleted content of crossepg folder in the usb key
      2. changed epg cache from newnigma services to /media/usb/epg.dat
      3. switched dm8000 off from the rear button
      4. boot, no epg was there and it was allright (of course!)
      5. load epg with crossepg as usual (xepgdb now, but I'm using Italian one, it's cool my English posts made me seem uk-made hehehehe!) into usb key this time and made it load it (it does that automatically with the cool plugin here!)
      6. channel list has epg, ok, that was not a problem before, almost not always, the problem is:
      7. loading any epg guide (I'm using coolman's tv guide) gives a green screen before opening. It's not the plugin itself, it opens if I don't load epg and always worked!!! Also the multi graphical epg (the integrated one) gives the same green screen right after having opened it and as soon as you move in any direction!

    • Yes,well unfortunatly that seems to be a problem of the way the patch works.
There are a few different ways to patch e2 to make the epg data public,so that it can be loaded without having to restart e2.
Cause of those "fatal" problems, the crossepg dev made a patch that fixed them.
Back then it mostely were fatal in discriptor(or something like that) problems, but I'm pretty sure this "assertion" thing is based on the same problem.
Well unfortunatly since the e2 core is closed source, this specific patch can't be used anymore.
I have no idea if the problem can be fixed without touching the e2 source.
If not, then it seems it's just something we have to llive with, till dmm brings out their epg solution.
it's kinda sad that some things that already worked, now don't work anymore,or not correctly, but I think we just have to be patient. :)
“If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.”
    • Thanks for helping and giving some consolation too :)
But I am damn stubborn about these things, I always HAVE to find a solution, that's why after a pair of weeks of headaches and after having tried any combination of the possible causes of that, I found out the right one just a bunch of minutes ago!!!!! I tried deleting epg cache, putting it elsewhere, clearing any data of the inherent plugins, updating cams for less memory usage and so on, the last change was THE CHANNEL LIST!!!!!
That was the cause of all the problems!!!!
It was the Cyrus's settings files I was using. I've just downloaded the Vhannibal's settings, put them there, cleared epg data (for the 1000th time), reboot, load epg and woila, it all works wonderfully 8) :D :D :D
It definitely made my day, lol!!!!!
I hope this is helping anyone else having similar problems!!!

    • Not trying to dissapoint you here, but this is(if it's at all a solution and not a coincidence) only one situation where this problem appears.
I'm using my own settings and I never had any problems with the cooltv guide nor the webinterface and still I had that crash.
I don't believe it can be fixed by anything that "we" can do.
“If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.”
    • I understand that error is something more "general" of this specific problem, but I still think I've solved my problem definitely, almost, if I would decide not to upgrade anymore my box, to be sure.
The fact another box I'm using and not upgrading, having and old nn2, had the same exact problem, a box that had in common with the dm8000 only the hdd (hosted by dm8000's smbd in the home network) where to place/read files and epg data (in a different folder of course) AND the channel list and the fact that changing the channel list there did the trick, too, seems to me something more than a coincidence, doesn't it?
Also it was not something happening sometimes, it was happening all the times you opened any epg and frankly made the box quite useless when it wasn't letting you browse the channel list (this was not happening all the times, fortunately). I understood doing some researches that error could be due to many things, so it could happen again for other reasons, yes, but it seems the channel list was making it happen all the times, for sure!
    • The settings have not solved the problem, seems like your thoughts weren't anyway wrong!!
The problem persists in less occasions, but basically is still there and for example I can't go after the "current" epg page! The same on the "older" box.
So, I'm not sure where the problem is, but I still have to understand why it was not there before and now it's there, both for a newest box that for an ancient one with old enigma (both nn2).
I'll just try to be patient and see if it's solved in time, even if I highly doubt it to be sincere, seems something like a source problem right now, ie the way xepgdb is formatted is wrongly containing data.

Taking xmltv involves causes of possible CrossEpg compatibility problems with current enigma, so that's quite useless, will try if this works on the old box, instead, that should not have these incompatibility problems with the new e2.
    • Well,regarding your old box...
I have no idea which patch was used in the older newnigma, never used it.
It might even be possible that it's a problem of the latest crossepg version.
To be honest, all I can say with absolut certenty is...I don't know it. :)
What I do know is that there was a similiar problem way back, before the v2 patch was made.
The v2 and later on,the v2.1 patch solved that problem completely.
The problem that appears now seems, like I said, very similiar to that problem.
The only way to know for sure is test the latest crossepg version in one of my older backups,of which I know that it didn't have any crossepg related problems.
To be even more sure,we would need a new, closed source image, with the v2.1 patch...but to be honest I just don't see that happening.:)
Well like I said,we just have to be patient till dmm comes with their solution.
I'm absolutely sure that they will, but I'm not that sure that it is a priority. :)
      So...patience... :)

      Ps.Oh and...there is a possibility to edit post,you know. :D

Habe dann newnigma2.to/wbb2/attachment.php?attachmentid=15126 von Dr.Best installiert.
