OpenVPN in newnigma2

  • OpenVPN in newnigma2

    Hi,
I am using newnigma 2.3.1 on my DM800. Great image. But I have a problem: I can't use openvpn so far in this image although there is an addon for it. After download and install, there is no scipt accessible through remote control to start or manage openvpn... Furthermore, Openvpn director is empty, no configuration or sample file there. Runing openvpn script from init.d doesn't help, although I put my configuration files and keys in etc/openvpn directory. Can be done something regarding this? Is there any workaround? Because I am seriously thinking to use an another image that has integrated Openivpn in it. Can somebody guide me how to start it in newnigma? I didn't find any info on net regarding this. All it is necessary is a script that can properly start Openvpn at boot. And I am not a specialist in linux so I can't built it by myself...
    Thank you in advance.

So many views and no post... Although this is a main feature, no reply. I am thinking if I have to post here the simple solution for it or not...

I will post ONLY if an image developer will promise to include this in the next release. Because having an addons without working is unusefull. Need to put a file in lib and a line in openvpn script. That's all. But detailed info, later. At least at next upgrade I want to have this feature included. Although making it works it will take about 5 minutes (full reboot needed).

So _YOU_ think it is a "main" feature. I for myself think this is an image for a cable/satelite receiver and not for a VPN concentrator. ;)
It seems the feedback to your post tells how many user really need/want ths plugin. :P

  • OpenVPN is a little bit to difficult for a simple config file. Take a look at the howto of the OpenVPN site (openvpn.org/index.php/documentation/howto.html) and you will see, that is not only a file. You need to create certificates for both sites ( Dreambox as server and PC as client). If you follow the howto you will be able to use OpenVPN with the Dreambox.
