WIFI on DM 800

    • WIFI on DM 800

      Hi all,
      Can someone point me to a tutorial how to install a usb wifi to a dm800, since I'm moving house and the telephone line is on the other side of the house so my wireless router will be away from the dreambox, also which usb sticks are reported to work?

      hi,

      all drivers you need are included in Newnigma2. You have only to boot with a supported WLAN-stick. Then you will find WIFI in the networksettings and you can configure it.

      But not all sticks will work. You need one with the following chipsets:
      Ralink RT2570,
      RT2501USB
      RT2070 Chipsatz
      Ralink R73
      Zydas 1211b
      RT2501USB

    • Don´t buy a Linksys WUSB54GC they don´t work in Rev. 3 and it looks like they sell only Rev.3 in the moment (some user have problem with this stick), if you have a older one you can try this one.

    • thanks a million for your help.
      Do you have a link from where I can buy the D-Link DWL-G122 Revision C1 because I found some sites but none of them says if it is rev C1.

      A friend of mine suggested me to go for a ethernet converter, a buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP-1. What do you think?

    • I use something what is like this buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP-1 and I think the connection is a lot better as with a usb wlan-stick.

      If you have no conection problems because your dreambox is not so far away from your wlan-router you can use a usb-stick if you have conection problems use something like the buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP-1

      also you can put a 5-port- network-switch on the buffallo so you can conect more things together with your wlan- network, like xbox, blyray-player, dreambox a.s.o

      I think I will go for the buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP-1 because it is more straight forward to connect it with the dreambox and I will have less issues because of the Revision of the stick.
