Samba strange error

    • Samba strange error

      I've got problem wit sambaserver version 3.3.12-r4.

      The problem is that I can't copy from Dreambox hdd to PC Windows XP hdd full directory (i.e. with avi) and I've got no access i.e. from Windows Media Player to avi files in Dreambox hdd.
      Also I noticed that during copy from DM tp Windows XP directory with avi and subtitles the directory is coped, subtitle is coped, but avi is'nt and System gives me notice about copy protection.

      But for example I can copy (i.e. by Total Commander) dirs between Dreambox hdd locations.

      The problem appears in moment when I switched in to oe1.6 firmware (the smb.conf stays from oe1.5).

      Can someone show me where is the problem (Windows XP, or smb.conf) or give me the simple config which will work on this sambaserver?

      I tried a lot of configs, the present one is:

      [global]
      load printers = no
      guest account = root
      log file = /tmp/smb.log
      security = share
      server string = DreamBOX network services
      workgroup = WORKGROUP
      netbios name = DreamBOX
      client code page=850
      character set=iso8859-1
      case sensitive=yes
      preserve case=yes
      short preserve case=yes

      [Configuration]
      comment = Configuration files - take care!
      path = /var
      read only = no
      public = yes
      guest ok = yes

      [Harddisk]
      comment = The harddisk
      path = /media/hdd
      read only = no
      public = yes
      guest ok = yes

      Hi,

      same here, try to downgrade samba to version 3.0.28 and post the result pls

      it's possible to downgrade, the old samba is build whit old gcc and another options

      you can downgrade from another oe 1.6 and not from oe 1.5

    • Hi,

      telnet to your dream killall -9 smbd, delete smbd from usr/sbin, copy the file below to usr /sbin chmod 755 and restart smbd, should work i think.
      I dont know if there will be other problems, because the file is build by OE 1.5
