no audio with dm800 with DVI connected

    • no audio with dm800 with DVI connected

      Hi all,

When i put my tv on this morning (& my dreambox dm800 from standby to on) i did not have any audio anymore. Picture was still perfect.
HDMI on my tv is working perfect (tested with other media).
When i change the setting on my dm800 to' scart' - with a scart-cable connected - , the audio is ok.
Only in DVI-mode there's no audio.
I reflashed the dm800 with newnigma 3.0.1 but the problem still remains.

Yesterday evening alles went perfect; just coming from standby to on today gave me no audio anymore.
Pls can somebody give me the golden tip to 'repair' this?
      Is this a known issue?

      Thank you very much.

    • Thanks for answering but yes, i tried this too. No change...
Do i have to do more than this setting (downmix: on)?

Can the driver be the reason too?
      I saw on other forums there were more people with the same problem (but long ago, in 2009);
they could for example pull the dvi-cable off and back on.
Then they had audio until next reboot.
it was a driver problem, fixed in newer firmware-revisions.
Normally the problem can't exist anymore.

    • change video output mode to 'DVI' under Menu->Settings->System->A/V Settings

when selected mode is 'Scart' then no sound on DVI present

    • Thank you for the answer, MartiniB.
      But i did this already.
      I don't understand anything about it;
the only thing i did was coming from standby and there was
no sound anymore. My tv is a PFL8404; i'm not sure if it is
my television (audio via hdmi) or my dreambox that give the problem...
I have nothing ese to test my hdmi on television than my dm800.
When selecting scart i have normal audio, selecting dvi gives normal picture
      but no sound.

I try to find a solution; i will sure reply when anything is found.
      thanks!

    • i have just little opinion with Philips LCDs

with my 42pfl9703h have no problems with sound and autoformat works correct whith actual drivers

with neighbors 42pfl7633d only trough Side HDMI got correct connection cause back HDMI sockets are too deep
(simpthoms similar like yours, picture came just after few seconds and without sound)

with other naighbors 40pfl5605h no problems with sockets deep and sound,
but AutoFormat works wrong way - 4:3 isnt touched(where it must work) but 16:9 streched verticaly when activated

first two are 2008 year models and last one is 2010,
      your is 2009

    • Thanks for the info MartiniB...
I will check this at once.
But possibly there is more wrong...
Now i see there are more people that are having the same problem
with the same cvi (other firmware but same cvi) => see link...

      i-have-a-dreambox.com/wbb2/thr…ght=&hilightuser=0&page=2

So possibly it can also be an error in the firmware.
Strange that this problem appears days after the new firmwares came out...

      Any suggestions?

      thanks.
    • Hi all!

      SOLVED!

The solution was: put the TV and the dreambox off for at least 5 mins.
(off- power; i mean cables disconnected from the power at the wall)

After this, powercable reconnected & i rebooted first my dm800.
Then i powered my tv with his powercable & put it back on.
      Result: picture AND audio!

so what the cause was: i don't know but at this moment all is working back again.

Everybody who replyed: thanks again. Hopely i can help somebody with this information.

      1 thing is sure: OR the driver for the dm800 gives problems over time;
OR my pfl8404 (philips) has a problem with his firmware.

not the best friends these 2.
