Ok I did a "init4" and then "enigma2" and watched the output on screen while I did some testing.... The "mkv" file can be loaded and played if choosing "media player" from the main menu in newnigma2, but that player r e a l l y sucks! Does anybody know why I cannot just press the "PVR" button on the remote and choose the file as easy as I can with all other .ts or .avi files? Thanks /Per-Olov

Profile? Are you talking about some environment settings in Linux? As most stuff are run as root... Are you talking about anything in /home/root/.gstreamer-0.10 ? Don't get it... Is it possible to have an explanation.... /Per-Olov

I have checked the beginning of the mkv file with a hex editor and it says something about "matroska". Installation of... root@dm8000:~# opkg list-installed|grep -i matr gst-plugin-matroska - 0.10.27-r0.0 libmatroska2 - 1.0.0-r0 root@dm8000:~# and a reboot after that did not help. No mkv files show up in the gui. Is it maybe the suomipoeka plugin that wont show these files? /Per-Olov

I have had problems with that as well. I ended up editing the /etc/fstab on the DM8000 directly. Faster and it always work.. Example: //192.168.0.13/med /media/net/med cifs username=pvr,password=XXXXXXXXX 1 0 Then you can do a "mount /media/net/med" or reboot the DM so the boot process do it instead. /Per-Olov

Either.. Use the disk on another server and access it over an network filesystem like NFS or CIFS from the DM. OR... Format it on DM as Linux std ext3 and mount it on the MAC as it can handle ext3. /Per-Olov

You can use rsync over ssh directly. This means the target server needs nothing except the public key from source. You do not need any rsync daemon and have good encryption, but to the cost of some overhead. This is preferred if you copy config files etc. But if you want to repeatedly copy huge DVD images I would first do some thinking regarding encryption and security risks as encryption has a CPU cost. As a start you can try to run dropbear in foreground with "-F"on target. Also... check /var/log/messages on source and target host when connecting. That I cannot tell as I don not know anything about earlier DMM releases. I assume newnigma2 3.1.1 , 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 are not based on the exact same DMM release. mp4 works for me on my dm8000. To run on the fly from DM over a CIFS share as well. As I do not have a DM800 I cannot tell... But I would guess it should work on a DM800 too. Test no:1 Try to copy it to the DM itself and try to play it locally so it's not a network or streaming issue.
